Getting ready
The day began at Nicola’s house at 11am. We photographed last-minute dress adjustments and children playing. We also captured the bride’s father refining his speech, her mother helping, and the bridesmaids. Everyone worked together to keep the day calm.
At the venue
My assistant Nathan met me at the venue with his kit. A reliable second shooter means I can focus on the moments that matter. I do not waste time changing lenses or hunting for flashguns. Key expressions disappear if you fuss with gear.
A pre-wedding visit had already mapped the best indoor and outdoor spots. Mill Hall is large. Outside you find gardens, trees and flowers. Inside there are windows, a staircase and high ceilings.
Full-day coverage
We covered the full day: getting ready, arrival, ceremony, drinks, outdoor portraits, speeches and the disco. For the first dance I mixed ambient light with flash while guests filled the floor.
