A USB recorder for marketing materials and data sheets — shot in my former Berkshire studio. JawPhotography is now based in St Austell, Cornwall, offering the same product photography St Austell businesses can book.
USB recorder product photography for marketing and data sheets
A client needed fresh photographs of a new USB recorder for post-production marketing and product manuals. Working from Berkshire at the time, I delivered studio product shots to replace placeholder images in their data sheet.
The brief asked for three hero shots, plus two extras for compositing onto other backgrounds.
I used an 85mm lens for close focus without perspective distortion. Soft diffused strobes from a large softbox above, with reflectors to fill shadows and lift button highlights, sat against a dark backdrop. A slower shutter (1/30s) exposed the LED indicators properly — a key product feature — at a very low ISO on a locked tripod.
Dust and marks were cleaned before shooting to cut retouching time. Everything was captured RAW, finished as PSDs in Photoshop, reviewed as JPEGs, then supplied as flattened print-ready files.
